It takes twelve years for the Japanese zodiac to complete one full cycle.

Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Boar.

IMAMI’s original 12-Piece Zodiac Edo Kiriko Set brings each of these animals to a separate glass, forming a complete set of twelve.

The set was specially commissioned from Shinozaki Glass Craft, a Tokyo workshop specialising in Edo Kiriko.

The work is complete only when all twelve zodiac signs are together.

For that reason, it is sold only as a full 12-piece set and is not available as individual glasses.

The Twelve Zodiac Animals, One Glass at a Time

Each glass features a different zodiac animal on its front.

The Dragon appears on one glass, the Horse on another, with all twelve signs represented across the complete set.

Fine geometric cutting and broader sweeping lines surround the animal motifs, allowing the zodiac imagery to sit within the light and structure of Edo Kiriko rather than apart from it.

Each glass works as an individual object, but the character of the series becomes clearer when the twelve are seen together, with changing colours, patterns and animals forming a continuous sequence.

Specially Made for IMAMI by Shinozaki Glass Craft

This is not a selection assembled from existing products.

The twelve-piece set was specially made for IMAMI by Shinozaki Glass Craft as an original commission.

Founded in 1957, Shinozaki Glass Craft is an Edo Kiriko workshop in Tokyo.

The workshop has continued to work with traditional patterns while carrying forward original designs developed by its first-generation craftsman, Seiichi Shinozaki.

IMAMI has introduced other works by the workshop, but this zodiac set is a distinct piece created specifically through an IMAMI commission.

Twelve Years of Time in a Single Set

The Japanese zodiac advances by one sign each year and returns to the beginning after twelve years.

It is familiar as a marker of birth year, but it can also suggest family, generations and the movement of time.

Rather than selecting only one personal zodiac sign, this set brings the entire cycle together.

Its interest lies not only in a single year, but in the sense of time continuing before and after it.

That idea also connects naturally with IMAMI’s philosophy of carrying things of value into the future.

A Work That Continues Through Use

Edo Kiriko is not made only to be displayed.

Once a drink is poured, colour enters the glass, the cuts catch the light and the appearance changes from its empty state.

Which zodiac sign will be used today?

Which glass will be chosen, and with whom?

The set does not end when all twelve glasses are collected. The time spent using them becomes part of the work.
