From this vision, the IMAMI Original Collection brings together some of Japan’s most accomplished contemporary artisans to create works that honour tradition while speaking to the present.

For the second edition, we are honoured to present a creation by Yayoi Aoyama — a female master of Edo Kiriko who established her independent studio in 2025.

Bold, flowing curves with an organic sense of movement. The intricate precision of the traditional Kikutsunagi pattern. Brought together, the result is a piece unlike anything seen before.

To express the theme of “layered”, coloured glass has been meticulously cut into a continuous band encircling the vessel. Achieving this form demands extraordinary concentration — the slightest deviation would allow the Kikutsunagi pattern to stray beyond the boundaries of the band.

The rim is crafted as thin as possible, for an elegant drinking experience. The cut pattern at the base reveals its delicate brilliance only from certain angles.

With every use, new details emerge.
